Norway Triumphs on Home Soil in the Longines EEF Nations Cup in Drammen

Norway celebrated a memorable victory on home ground as the host nation claimed top honours in the Longines EEF Nations Cup at Gjelsten Arena in Drammen on Friday.
After a thrilling competition, the Norwegian team defeated Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands in a decisive jump-off to secure the win.
The Norwegian riders delivered a consistent and impressive team performance throughout the competition. Finishing the regular rounds on four faults, they advanced to the jump-off, where speed and accuracy proved decisive. With a winning time of 31.92 seconds, Norway secured victory in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
It was Norway’s first Nations Cup victory in Drammen in many years.
- I think it’s been 16 years since Norway last won in Drammen, Pål said,- In the other years we’ve come close, we finished second both last year and the year before, so it’s really great that it all came together this time.
The riders agreed that teamwork was the key factor behind the result.
Johan hoped for a clear round: - I think we did well today because we had a strong team and everyone performed really well. It was exciting right up until the last round. We were hoping to go clear so we wouldn’t have to go to a jump-off.
Geir delivered the decisive performance in the jump-off.- When I saw the first rider in the jump-off, I thought that if I was going to beat him, I would have to do something completely out of the ordinary. I told Mikael that we would either win or finish fourth. Today we had a good day in the jump-off. The margins are small, and this time I had a few tenths of a second on my side. It was great teamwork that put us in a position to make it to the jump-off, he said.
Team manager Mikael was delighted to finally see Norway convert several near misses into victory:- It’s really wonderful that we won. Of course, we want to perform well on home soil, and of course we want to win. We’ve been so close every single time.
The celebrations were set to continue after the prize-giving ceremony.- The celebration will be a nice dinner and a great atmosphere, said Mira, - It’s going to be fantastic!
